FAQs

Will the Environmental standard help me reach NetZero?

The Environmental standard is a great starting point for businesses to take stock of their environmental impact. The standard itself will not ensure that you meet NetZero, but it will provide you with requirements that will challenge how you operate. The standard will give you the opportunity to look at the environment, society and economic conditions around your business.

Can this standard be standalone?

Yes is the simple answer, although this is quite unusual. The standard fits well with both Quality and Health & Safety. Going forward there will be other standards such as 14068 (NetZero) that will compliment this standard. As with the other standards, it is often more cost effective and efficient to tie this into an integrated system.

Does obtaining this standard ensure that we are legally compliant?

The short answer on this is no! The standard will help identify the areas of legal compliance that you must adhere to. COSHH must be in place, but the standard doesn't automatically mean that your business compiles with it. The effective application of the environmental management system will help your journey to being legal compliant.
