Can I implement this standard on its own?
Yes, it is possible for the standard to be implemented on its own. If your business is certifying products using reports from subcontracted test houses who are themselves 17025 certified, then you can be certified purely to this standard.
Our business conducts thorough checks to certify products, why do we need this standard?
The standard provides assurance to your customers that the checks are taken in accordance with a planned, methodical approach that reviews the test report and is evaluated and certified by individuals not involved within the testing process. This separation of duties is a key driver within the standard.
The version (year) for the standard is 2012. Will it be updated soon?
A review of the standard was undertaken in the first half of 2024 and it was decided that the standard did not require updating. Reviews take place approximately every 5 years.
